Our Mission:
Even though food is a necessity in our daily lives, food has become processed, quick and not as meaningful. As we gather together for daily meals, special family gatherings, and potlucks, the quality of food, the focus on gathering and preparing our food, and our connection to each other and our farming community has been diminished. We don’t know the story of our food or the story behind most of what we own. Furthermore, in today’s society, food is viewed as a commodity and ingested to satisfy hunger. Authentic Provisions views food as a life source, an art, and a vital part of our community. It is the intention of Authentic Provisions to re-connect our community to what sustains us, brings us health, and centers us back to each other and our community of farmers, producers, artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs.
Who we are:
Authentic Provisions Buying Club is made up of folks like you. Folks who are no longer satisfied with the commercial food system, the limited products offered in traditional grocery stores, animal cruelty found in concentrated animal feeding operations, otherwise referred to as CAFO's, extensive pesticide and herbicide use, synthetic fertilizers, GMO crops, workers and farmers who aren't paid fairly, lack of quality and taste, recalls, illness, and the list goes on. The families that make up the buying club have synergy - a collective buying power that rewards members with pricing that wouldn't necessarily be achieved by an individual, and access to quality products not found in traditional stores. Members work together to purchase food, divide up the food into pre-ordered increments and celebrate real food together.
Authentic Provisions, LLC offers a "personal shopper" experience for members. We provide administrative & fiduciary services, in-depth research for quality products, price negotiations that benefit the producers and the members, and act as a liaison between members, and the sources members purchase from. We are not a retail store nor do we up-charge any product. Members will receive wholesale or bulk pricing on many products. We charge an administrative allocation to compensate for expenses and services. We service Authentic Provisions Buying Club.
Authentic Fare:
The food available to members would be considered ‘gourmet’ by some, but to members the food is ‘normal’. Our main focus is to foster relationships and support local and regional producers who adhere to our standards-high quality organic, naturally raised, animal welfare certified, conscious, non-gmo, pastured, fairly traded, and humanely raised, nutrient dense food. For items not available through our local and regional producers we will seek out, preferably, small, family owned farm sources within the United States. Some food items will be acquired internationally due to the fact that some food items simply don’t grow in our country or the quality may be more appealing. Transparency with all of our providers is key to a positive relationship and we do our best to ask all the right questions. At times we will work with larger distributors, and they will often offer items that we would not recommend or otherwise make available to members. We encourage members to make wise decisions when choosing items from larger distributors, such as Azure and Frontier.
Traditional Methods:
We will offer educational opportunities in more traditional methods of preparing food, preserving food, selecting food and enjoying food! In addition, we will facilitate discussions, such as utilizing local fibers, making your home more energy efficient, buying in bulk, seed saving, medicinal herbs, homesteading and how to incorporate healthier food choices in your daily life.
Local Craft:
The team behind Authentic Provisions has a passion for local folks! Homemade local soaps, locally foraged medicinal tinctures and herbal combinations, fleece items, everyday essentials, art, tools, home goods, and the list goes on! When it comes to purchasing for you or someone else, lets train ourselves to think LOCAL first!
Local Music:
Music celebrates, heals, consoles and brings happiness! We will work with local musicians to ensure we all benefit from everything music gives. We will offer recordings produced by local musicians and work together to support local functions and hopefully create a few ourselves!
